Flow Field Characteristics of an Aerospike Nozzle Using Different Turbulence Models

To improve the calculation of the flow properties of an aerospike nozzle, different turbulence models were investigated in this study. The primary shape of the nozzle plug is determined through utilizing an approximate method. The flow field is, then, simulated using the Navier-Stokes equations for compressible flows. The commercial computational fluid dynamics code Fluent is used to simulate t...

Conformal Models of Two–Dimensional Turbulence

Polyakov recently showed how to use conformal field theory to describe two-dimensional turbulence. Here we construct an infinite hierarchy of solutions, both for the constant enstrophy flux cascade, and the constant energy flux cascade. We conclude with some speculations concerning the stability and physical meaning of these solutions.

Effect of von Kármán vortex shedding on regular and open-slit V-gutter stabilized turbulent premixed flames

The commercial code FLUENT is used for modeling and simulation of threeand twodimensional non-reacting and reacting flows past regular and open-slit V-gutters. Incompressible Large-Eddy Simulations with Dynamic Subgrid Kinetic Energy Model, C-progress variable equation and Zimont turbulent flame speed closure are used. C3H8 is used as the fuel. The measured and predicted time-averaged streamwis...

Numerical Study of Single Phase/Two-Phase Models for Nanofluid Forced Convection and Pressure Drop in a Turbulence Pipe Flow

In this paper, the problem of turbulent forced convection flow of water- alumina nanofluid in a uniformly heated pipe has been thoroughly investigated. In numerical study, single and two-phase models have been used. In single-phase modeling of nanofluid, thermal and flow properties of nanofluid have been considered to be dependent on temperature and volume fraction. Effects of volume fraction a...

Field theory of the inverse cascade in two-dimensional turbulence.

A two-dimensional fluid, stirred at high wave numbers and damped by both viscosity and linear friction, is modeled by a statistical field theory. The fluid's long-distance behavior is studied using renormalization-group (RG) methods, as begun by Forster, Nelson, and Stephen [Phys. Rev. A 16, 732 (1977)]. With friction, which dissipates energy at low wave numbers, one expects a stationary invers...
